Breakthroughs that make a difference.
While our eyes are always on the future, we’re also making a huge impact on the present. ONY Biotech’s innovative Infasurf® (calfactant) helps prevent and treat RDS (Respiratory Distress Syndrome) in newborns, restoring surface activity in the lungs and quickly improving respiration.
AerVia® and Infasurf® are distinct products with different intended uses. AerVia is a supraglottic airway device designed for airway management. Infasurf (calfactant) is approved only for intratracheal instillation via endotracheal (ET) tube.
The AerVia is a supraglottic airway, designed specifically for neonates. When used with the Push Pull™ technique, the AerVia allows health care providers to quickly establish and ensure a patent airway for neonatal patients with little to no use of sedation. Available in four sizes that span the full scope of neonatal patients, the AerVia extends supraglottic airway device use to neonates <1000g to 5000g.
What is a Supraglottic Airway?

Endotracheal Intubation
The endotracheal tube is inserted directly into the trachea, beyond the vocal cords. Providing an airway by endotracheal intubation requires direct visualization via laryngoscopy, is a highly skilled procedure, and more invasive.
Supraglottic Airway DEVICE
First breath. First steps. First day of school. Since its FDA approval in 1998, ONY Biotech has made tomorrow possible for so many premature babies and their families, thanks to Infasurf® (calfactant).
ONY Biotech’s primary commercial product, Infasurf® (calfactant) helps prevent and treat respiratory distress syndrome in newborns, restoring surface activity in the lungs and quickly improving respiration.
What is RDS?
Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), also known as Hyaline Membrane Disease, is a common and potentially serious respiratory disorder that affects newborn infants, typically those born prematurely. It primarily occurs due to the insufficient development of the infant’s lungs and their inability to produce a substance called surfactant.
Surfactant is a complex mixture of lipids and proteins that helps keep the alveoli (tiny air sacs in the lungs) open and prevents them from collapsing during exhalation. Surfactant for clinical use can be derived either from animal sources or synthesized in a lab.
Surfactant replacement therapy is used to treat neonatal RDS. This involves administering exogenous surfactant directly into the baby’s lungs through an endotracheal tube that has been inserted into the airway.
ONY Biotech’s primary commercial product, Infasurf®(calfactant), is a calf-lung surfactant indicated for the prevention of RDS in premature infants at high risk for RDS, and for the treatment of premature infants who develop RDS.
Infasurf® (calfactant) is approved in 30 countries around the world.
